St. Louis -- with its distinctive arch oft-called a "Gateway to the West" -- ranks as a baseball stronghold that also hits home-runs for shopping. Downtown’s Union Station, a former rail depot, features more than 100 boutiques and eateries including Aussie Outfitters, Beatles For Sale, Bud Shop and the Cardinal Club House store. St. Charles Centre has blocks of cobblestone allure with shops and restaurants on banks of the Missouri River. The Boulevard-Saint Louis features a main street with a mix of lifestyle retailers and eateries such as Crate & Barrel, Bombay Kids, Omaha Steaks and Maggiano’s Little Italy. Elegant Plaza Frontenac with the city’s only Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue and the largest Talbots store, also has J Crew, Pottery Barn and Tiffany & Co., plus Plaza Frontenac Cinema and Stonewater Spa.
Jamestown Mall, anchored by Dillard’s, JCPenney and Sears, also has Dungeons & Daggers, Dakota Watch Company, Hat Zone and other specialty shops and restaurants including Charley’s Steakery. Saint Louis Galleria, anchored by Dillard’s, Famous-Barr and Mark Shale, also has shops from Gymboree to Bailey, Banks & Biddle. Westfield Chesterfield Mall has nearly 200 stores. For powerhouse discounts, St. Louis Mills features Banana Republic Factory Store, Gap Outlet, Off 5th Saks Fifth Avenue Outlet, and more. Warrenton Outlet Center also is big on bargains with stores from Factory Brand Shoes and Levi’s Outlet to Bible Factory Outlet.
